so l lease a horse, and im sick of driving 25 minutes there, being there for 5 hours, only to spend time/ ride for 1 hour, not eat much, be in the freezing cold, and go home in a car for 25 minutes.. i work off the lease, but idk im just getting sick of barely spending time with him i wanna buy him, take him to a close barn and just love him. i am the only one to ride him now, l love him to death, and l just wish the economy was better! is there anything l can do to save my own money? just for the future? my birthday is in may, and l have middle school graduation in may too, so lots of money there!
any ways else?

1) Save ur birthday/christmas money (or any other holiday money)
2) Save ur allowance if u get any
3) Change to a better paying job, or keep the one u have now & get a 2nd job (not recommended if u have school)
4) Do not buy things u do not need. Oh my gosh l cannot tell u how hard that would be for me o_o But anyways.
5) Keep ur mind on ur goal. Many people do not raise enough because they just lose interest, or get lazy & stressed. Have enough for about 1 entertainment thing a week, hopefully something less than $10 (or whatever ur currency is)
Anyways, hope l helped some (:

If you love horses you can tell people you can exersice their horse for them when they are gone. another reason could be go online print of horse treats recipes and make them then sell them.

You need to ask yourself this: how r u going to care for, feed, & house this horse if u do buy it? If u r in middle school l sincerely doubt u have a reliable income to cover these expenses. Are ur parents willing to help you? If not, my advice is to either continue to work off the lease because at least u ARE getting that hour of riding time, or if the time constraint is too much for you, discontinue the lease & instead work in exchange for lessons. You can learn an awful lot riding many different horses.
l am really not being a jerk, l know what you're going through, but l was out on my own before l was able to get my first horse. l just want u to be realistic & make the most of ur situation. Good luck & l hope when the time comes u find a fantastic first horse to love & spoil.

l would ask my parents for help & save also. Save any money u can. Of course u will spend a little LOL but save as much as possible. try packing a lunch too if u buy & save the money. l would make sure ur parents r willing to help. When it gets closer to ur b-day I'd ask & show them what you've saved & make sure to work out a plan that involves school any sports or anything & caring for the horse. Make sure to tell ur parents u r willing to help pay for the horse but u can not do it all on ur own. l would also make sure to get really good grades & try to seem really responsible to them but keep it consistent they will notice ur trying hard & they will think that the horse is a good idea to get because it helps with responsibility. Also make sure they know how much he means to u too! :) l was lucky my mom was a horse girl LOL.

What l did was do my research first. Find out what the agistment & other costs would be specifically for you. i.e $70 per month, $40 per two months for farrier & about $700 for tack from the local saddlery. l offered this to my parents & asked if there was something they could do to help me. It is actually more my mum as l do not see my dad but her parents r helping me too.
At the moment, l am getting $15 per week that l can do anything with in return for helping about the house & extra pay for extra jobs. l got a tin that can not be opened without a can opener & then can not be shut & l put almost all of it in there. l have to raise at least $600 by April 10th (six months of agistment & emergency fees) & then we go into negotiation. Mum is idea is that l save & pay for agistment & she will pay most of the setup & farrier/dentist/worming costs. After the first year, she gets the better deal.
You really have to make sure you're comitted though & take what u can get. Hope it helps & good luck. (:

Well, keep in mind that u will not only be paying to buy the horse, but u will also be paying for his board (NOT CHEAP AT ALL). Save up ur money, but before u buy the horse look around in ur area & see of u can find a barn who will let u work there to be able to pay off the board. Even if it seems a little far, consider if u would rather drive a few extra miles or pay a few hundred bucks (board at most barns runs from $250-$600). Mucking out stalls, lunging/exercising other people is horses, grooming, helping in lessons, or any other kind of work they need done.
Ways u can make money: 1. Do as l said above & get work as a stable hand 2. Beg ur parents ;) (often does not work though) 3. Save allowance/Christmas/graduation/birthday/etc. money 4. Mow lawns, work a part-time job, or something of the sort
That is all l can think of at the moment. Good luck! l hope u get the horse!!

Hey There, l just wanted to say that l have been in ur position, so let me give u a little insight. l worked for one year to pay off $1500 on my three year old appaloosa, in 8th grade. About one month after he was paid off, he was injured. l had not been paying board, that was being worked off, so l took over feet & shots, etc. He was in a run in shed because l break lightly. He had 60 straight days under saddle so l was giving him 2 weeks off. He got stuck over the fence at his sheath, & had to be rushed to the Equine Emergency Clinic near me. His vet bill was over $5000 & l could never afford that, therefore he had to be euthanized. Just think about the worst before u take something like this on. l didn't, & l regret it. Anything could happen to the love of ur life, & can cost quite a bit of money that u may not have available to you. Good luck, l know what its like to want this more than anything!

Read a lot of good books on owning a horse (as l am doing right now). go on amazon.com or ebay.com & look at DVD is or VHS is on owning ur first horse. (i orderd a few off of amazon.) go look around ur house for any loose change, finders keepers. (every little penny counts.) just look under the couch (where l hit the jackpot). Look basicly anyware where u think their could be mony. Also set a goal for ur self. Like get a piece of paper & write down all of the things ur going to feed ur horse, all of the shows u plan to show it in, how ur going to ride it like western or english etc. how many times a week u will go to see it etc. just write down the basics like that. Also write on a piece of paper l WILL NOT SPEND ANY MONY ON THE THINGS l DON''T NEED. & put that piece of paper on the fridge ur bullitin board or any other place u might see it & stick to it that u will not spend any mony.
l am trying all of this so far & l think l will probobly get a horse by June. l really hope You get a horse. good luck & never give up.
