Probably, walk, trot, canter & jump all in perfect positioning & confidence. Perhaps come off at least once also. Jumping at least 2ft would be a good estimate. It depends on whoever is judging whether u r a good rider. Do not stress too much about it though. Everyone learns at some point. When u get more experience, u will be lying in bed & realize '' l can do this, this & this.'' & u will have a better estimate personally of where you're sitting.

Hope it helps. (:

haha actually l have no idea- but im guessing that they.

a.) must know basic horse care
like grooming
cleaning out stalls
tack cleaning
etc.
(basic care is an essential & if u can ride,, but cant tack up ur horse, u must be just fucked up in all the wrong places)

b.) basic commands
-whoa
-tick tick (or any sound that u use to make ur horse walk on)
-leg language (the usage of ur legs like kick for speed)
-any sound to make ur horse increase or decrease speed. like my horse goes into an immediate lope or canter when l kiss at him, & slows when l say easy or pull lightly on the reins.
etc.

c.) ground work-
-lunging etc.

d.) ur must be capable to ride at at least
all three gaits, walk, trot, & canter/lope.
(must also be able to retain balance)

f.) depending on ur discipline u should be capable (not perfect) & riding safely & responsible for u & ur or the horse being ridden.

and etc.

and most of that will be defined-perfected in/ on other levels:D

im only 14 but i've been riding for like 11 years so im not a champ. but i'd say really good at pleasure riding
:D

hope l helped

Everyone has a different definition of intermediate, but l would say that they need to:
1)Know how to saddle & groom a horse, & adjust tack to fit them & the horse.
2)Know basic safety rules, how to catch/lead/tie, how to pick a horses hooves all by themselves, etc.
3) Have a basic knowledge of equine soreness, lameness, colic, & health, so they do not ride ur horse when he is lame, or not notice he is colicking.
4) They should be able to Walk, Jog, & Canter, both directions, & should be able ti weave in & out of a line of cones, & circle/reverse with ease.
5) They should have good enough seat that u can never see daylight between the saddle & them, & they should be able to stay on during small fits (mini bucks, head tossing, sudden turns, & spooking).
6) They need to have ear shoulder hip & heel alignment at all times in the saddle. In other words, if u dropped a string from the riders ear, it should go through the middle of their shoulder, their hip, & hit the ankle bone.
7) Not that this has much to do with experience, but they should share most of ur training methods. Your horse could, potentially learn two methods, but it takes away from the effectiveness of both of them.

enough confidence to be on the horse at any gait- Can stay on easily, but gets back on when they do fall. These are important.
Also, a good/near perfect position
:) the ability to know when to ride the horse (knowing when it is sound, first aid, and all that stuff.)

This is the list that makes most sense to me!

The PRE-BEGINNER rider is someone who is interested & curious, but totally inexperienced with horses & needs to learn about them from the ground up. She is learning how to lead horses, groom them, & relate to their size & movement from the ground. The pre-beginner rider has no knowledge about horse training & care. She may be timid or fearless.

The BEGINNER rider is entering the awareness-development stage. She might have spent a total of 10 hours in the saddle, either by riding once in a while over a period of years or by taking an introductory group of lessons. She can control a quiet school horse at a walk & trot with turns & can stop the horse. The beginner rider slows down & walks if she feels she is losing her balance at the trot. She will remain a beginner until she has developed the balance & confidence to lope or canter the horse.

The ADVANCED BEGINNER can sit on a quiet, well-schooled horse without losing her balance when it is loping or cantering.

The INTERMEDIATE rider may show signs of competitiveness or seriousness about riding. When she works with a school horse, she can mount without assistance, walk, trot, canter, ride circles, serpentines, knows what diagonal or lead she is on, & can stop the horse from any gait.

The ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE rider can perform simple & flying lead changes, variations in the gaits, turn on the forehand, turn on the hindquarters, & lateral movements on a school horse. She has the interest to ride horses other than school horses & she is gaining the knowledge & is developing the skills to be able to train horses.

The ADVANCED rider is a horse trainer with a well- developed sense of balance & timing. She understands sophisticated concepts of horse movement & sound principles of training & can perform the advanced maneuvers in her style of riding. When she rides it is very difficult to see the aids she is giving her horse.

A beginner should know the very basics. Like how to stay balanced at the walk, trot & canter.
They should be able to do circles & do transitions. And should have a decent two-point & be able to walk, trot & canter over poles.

A novice rider should be able to do the same thing but also be able to begin worrying about the horse. They should learn how to put a horse on the bit & begin to execute better transitions etc, They should also begin jumping.

A intermediate should be able to do everything a novice rider is doing but with much more skill & precision. They should learn how to collect & extend a horses stride on the flat. They can begin to jump higher fences & beginning adjusting stride on course.

At advanced level the rider should master everything the intermediate rider can do & do it with near perfection. They should also be able to train horses & bring along ''greenies''.
