Whenever l am trying to get my horse to stop at the cross-ties, he just pulls me along. Any tips? Thanks!

well, what l did, was for every step forward my horse took forward against my will, l made him back & then added a few more. then go back to where u want him to stand & be consistant with it-even if he only moves 1 foot forward! eventually ur horse will learn that he doesnt acheive anything by not listening to you. not only should this solve ur problem, but he will learn to respect you.

if u physically cant get him to stop, try using a rope halter or a chain over the nose unitl u can get him to stop nicely & follow the steps above. eventually u can just go back to a plain halter.

For every step your horse takes without your permission you say in a stern voice ''NO'' (or whatever your correcting choice is) and turn to him so you are in front of him, take his halter and back him however many steps he took forward. l tough my pony from scratch how to stand still. It takes consistency, it cannot come over night. If he bobs his head, jerk his halter and tell him no, or if he paws his legs bop his leg and say no.
