read this question and read it very carefully, as l would appreciate you not getting confused and ''misanswering'' it. ok, l live remote and we have a herd of wild horses that come up on occasion. l have this idea of letting a registered tennessee walker stallion that l am boarding loose with this herd. the owner will be in india for the next 2 years. l have this idea that this quality stallion could breed these mustang mares and l would later ''capture' the foals and raise them as mustang/walker cross. a new and unique breed. l feel they will be gaited and a 'hardy' horse. whats your thoughts?
look at the link that.. just google it.. posted. the one that says classifieds. that twh/mustang cross is one beautiful animal. seeing that pic just proves l am right. as for the owner of the stallion.. well he hasnt paid me board in over 8 months, so im gonna do what im gonna do and thats turn the stud loose the next time l see this herd. as for the mustang stud, he is limping. l do not think this well built twh will have any problems taking over his mares.
also, the horse market WILL turn around and when it does, l need to have horses ''ready to go'' that will take 3 years from now. so l am THINKING AHEAD!
i turned the stallion loose here in NV 1 hour ago. l think theseare from people who know little of horse. l assume most of you probably live in cities or subburbs.

Horses are being shipped to Mexico to be slaughtered for human consumption and you want to breed more? That makes no sense to me. Help rescue the horses, please do not breed.

l really do not think that you should risk this with a horse that is not yours. The herd may reject him, he may instigate a power struggle with the current lead stallion and be killed/injured in the ensuing battles. Also, he is a domesticated horse and will not necessarily know how to survive in the wild, now will have the immunities that may be necessary outside of human protection.

l believe if the BLM finds out, u would be in big trouble. That is part of the problem, there r way too many wild horses that r now being euthanized. l do not think it is a good idea at all. You would have no idea which foals were ''naturally'' wild, or which r yours. You need to do some reading on wild horses. There r too many consequences.
It is a really, really bad idea. Not to mention the wild horses could have diseases, or no immunity & It would pass on to the foals, it is too big of a risk to the health of the herd & the babies.
One other thing, what will u tell the owner when the wild stallion(s)hurts or even kills his TWH stud?

What makes you think the herd would even accept this stallion? Why can not you just leave well enough alone?

At the very least, why not get a female mustang? Are not they available for sale or adoption?

EDIT 2: Just the fact that u think that stud is beautiful is proof enough that u do not have the knowledge needed to successfully enter into a breeding operation. What is so beautiful about the stud - his color? Or r u looking at his upright shoulder, practically vertical neck, nonexistent chest, or lordosis-y back? He has a cute star.which is not enough to make him stallion material, l am afraid.

Probably just a bad idea all around. Keep that stud safe and sound at the boarding facility. The owner would definitely be devastated to lose him. There are plenty of wild horses out there, no need for more.

what you need to do if your going to do that is you need to trank three mares and put them in a Very high fence so that way they cannot get away and put the stud in with them that you do not run the risk of having the two stallions to fight and loosing the walker or even getting him injured email me and ill show you a digram of what l am talking about

Waaaay too risky. The stallion could disappear on you, then what? I'd hate to have to explain that to his owner. Or he could be injured or killed by another stallion. There is no guarantee that he will successfully breed any of the mares. Wild stallions must ''earn'' the right to breed mares by defeating the resident stallion. Even if he sucessfully breeds a mare, what guarantee can u have that u will be successful in capturing one of his offspring? Also, there is no guarantee that the offspring will be gaited. Better, to adopt a BLM mare, that way u have better control of the outcome. If u r just wanting a ''free'' horse forget it. It costs lots more to raise a baby than it does to buy one.

l personally think that you are insane!!!!! for starters it is not your stallion and how would you like to be put in the stiuation of it being your stallion and someone doing it to you . DONT THINK YOU WOULD APPROVE. just let things be and leave well alone .if not be prepared for the concequences.!

1. Mustangs r already plenty tough. They do not need any TWH blood to help them out in that department.
#2. Your plan is highly ILLEGAL. You cannot just go ''capture'' the foals. Those horses, even though bred by ur stud, would be considered property of the US government. If u capture them, u r stealing from the gov't.a federal offense. Also, once u turn that stud out.HE becomes gov't property as well.
#3. There is already a surplus of wild horses. The gov't was looking to euthanize 30,000 of them. You would only be adding to that problem.

So no, ur idea sucks. l agree with previous posters.worst breeding idea ever. Do ur research if u want to breed. Quit being lazy, get some quality stock, & do it that way.

It might be a little tricky but you seem pretty money conscious and im 100% sure that the mares wont need any food water, or general care, all l ask is that you comb there sparkly manes and tails everyday.

Well u solved ur boarder is non payment problem although u did not do it legally. Also u failed to realize that with that band of mares, there is probably a stallion who is a LOT more savvy than the barn raised TWH stallion u just condemmed to either death by herd stallion or a slow starvation after the herd stallion ran him from his band.

Then there is the BLM you're going to have to deal with if by chance this horse is rescued by the BLM.

think it would be better for the twh to have the mustang mares caught and brought to him. the stud will surely fight to keep his band and your horse may not be able to defend himself.
