l have a big huge buckskin quarter horse, and in the winter(when his coat gets long and thick) he turns like a buttermilk buckskin color, almost white. l wanna get him body clipped in the next month, in which case he will be grey cause of how dark his skin is.. im afraid that his summer show coat( deep almost orange slick shiny buckskin color) wont grow in the same, if he gets body clipped now... or will it not matter?

it should not matter. l have never body clipped my pony but since they have different coats and sometime different colors during the year l would guess it would just grow back the way it is supposed to. like in the summer my pony is a lighter chestnut but in the winter she gets this really pretty dark chestnut coat

It should not matter. l also have a buckskin qh and l body clip her every winter and her coat is very light then when l clip it it becomes a brownish grey. It always grows back to that light milky color in the spring.
l also clip my paint and my appaloosa and their coats always come back the same.

His colour wont change, maybe a little bit but it would be hard to tell. Horses seem to change colour in the winter and summer.
Like black horses will go bay in the summer because the sun bleaches there coat,. and in the winter they will go black again.
With palomino horses, they get darker in the winter so there body can attrachted more sunlught, and in the summer they go lighter to try not to ttracjt sunliight.

we have often clipped our horses and it grow back the same colour !!

it wont matter, dont worry my friends horse he is technically a red dun but when he is clipped he is almost greyish, and its not a very pretty greyish. she was worried about the same thing, especially since he has to be clipped 2 or 3 times from september till spring. but it will all grow back the same color it will just take more time if u keep clipping it.

when you cut your hair does it grow back a different color? if you 1/2 clip a horse he will appear to be 2 tone. eventually nature takes its course an all the hair will be at its natural length without ant change in the color.

The coat will grow out to be the same natural color. l used to body clip my Arabian mare every January. She was a bright, copper bay and when she was clipped, she turned into a mousey grayish brown (still pretty), but it only took about 2 months for her coat to grow back to its natural color.

His summer coat will grow in it is normal color. But you have to make sure not to clip him too late in the spring. When the winter coat starts shedding, the summer coat is already on it is way in. If you clipped then, you would take the tops off the new summer hairs, and the result would be a duller looking coat (at least for a while).
