l had not ridden him for a while and he started to limp. Now every time l get on him and gallop he limps. Its from the crop to around his hock. Mostly on the hindquarter though. We think he has arthritis. We are not sure though. What do you think is up with him?
Ive stayed off him for 2 months and then l jogged him and he started limping. We give him barely any food and hes getting fat how should l exersise him besides a lunge line?
Also can you check out my other Q's?

maybe he pulled his back or something. l have seen a horse do this after it was playing in the pasture. ( l know it sounds funny but) the people had a horse chiropractor come out and adjust him and he was better.

l think there is something wrong and that he needs a vet exam.

Get your vet to check it out. They will know best.

You need to stay off the darn horse.

First of all, if it is not bilateral, then l have difficulty pinning it on arthritis alone. Second, how can u pinpoint the limp without nerve blocks? Is it severe enough that u can actually see his hip buckle?

At the very least, he needs stall rest, & to restart SLOWLY.
There r many, many supplements to help with arthritis, as well as various steriod injections. However, l am not inclined to call it arthritis, & l think that a vet should & will need to be called out after stall rest, if not before.

ETA: If he is lame on 2 mos stall rest, he needs a vet appointment. Excercise is just going to excaserbate the situation. I'd add a vitamin supplement, & cut his grain back as much as possible. He should NOT be getting excercise at this point until the vet can tell u what is going on. Even at the risk of making it worse, we already know he is painful on it.
