is there a law that say how much land You need to own to have horses because l thought it was one horse so one acre

go to your town people in charge and get zoning laws, you must request zoning in some areas

l thought it was two acres for every horse, but only one acre for every horse after that. l can not really remember though, it did not really apply to us.we have like 10 acres.

Each town has its own rules.

Some places it is one acre/horse, sometimes min of 5 acres with no amount specified, some no horses at all.

The property may also grandfathered in ( l know of four instances in two towns where when the zoning changes they could keep horses)

If you only have one acre that is not very much. If there were close to ride or turn out the horse they may not get enough exercise. In the wild a horse travels 15 miles/day!
