l just bought the most wonderful horse ever! She is a pure bred Arabian, when ever l tell anyone they go part way into shock! Is it just me or do lots of people think Arabs are crazy? Well, l can tell you mine is not in the slightest, she is hardly scared of anything she is playful, sometimes can be bossy and dominant, willful and smart. For anyone who does Parelli she is a LBE. She is my perfect partner! When people describe Arabs to me they make them out a big scary fire breathing dragons! Thanks Love horses, love life! Savvy Sista

People get ''spirited'' and ''crazy'' mixed up sometimes. l find Arabs to be very pretty movers. Some people think Pasos are fiesty too, but it is them showing off or burning energy.

People freak when they hear Arabian because the common line of thought is they r hard headed, hot headed & crazy. Well l will be first in line to tell u THEY'RE NOT! The best horse l have EVER owned was an Arabian. l will say for the first 6 months or so of riding her she bucked me off every chance she got. But once we earned each others trust she turned into a horse that l could do anything on! She loved running barrels, but she would jump, trail ride, western pleasure, ANYTHING. l learned the following truths to the following myths:
Arabians r stubborn: No they r smart (sometimes too smart for their own good) & can out smart their rider. They use that intelligence to become a mount who knows what u r thinking & become very versatile horses ( l could barrel race her & then put my 5 year old cousin on her & she would tip toe around the arena!)
Arabians r hot headed: Well they can be very high strung but its more stamina then anything. l could ride my mare as much as l liked. l could do barrels in the morning & then that afternoon go on a 3 hour trail ride & when l came back to feed she would be as fresh as anything! They can get bored & need to be messed with, but that energy is their breeding use it!
Arabians r crazy: HA they r the exact opposite They can just outsmart their rider. Also they r escape artists. Mine loved to try to get out of her stall & to the feed room (like she needed it thanks to her metabolism she could look at food & gain weight.)
She was a small arabian (a polish arab) & had a fault of being butt high or being built down hill (when she would stop when she was running she would ''bounce'' because she couldnt get her butt under her) But l would not have traded her for the world.
Have fun with ur Arabian!

l think arabs r great horses. Yes, they r not dead like most Quarters, & for some people that makes them ''Scary''. But the only time Ive run into non-stallion crazy arabs is because of how they are,or were, kept. l know one whos just a nastly little thing- but she spent the first 7 years of her life cooped up in a dark little 10x10 stall in an arab barn, let out for an hour a day, if at all. If that doesnt drive a naturally energetic & intelligent horse a little nutty, l dont know what would. But that wasnt the horses fault- it was the owners. Now she has new, better owners, by the way.

They are known to shy a lot. And are very high spirited but l would not go as far to say fire breathing! ;) Haha. But they are also apparently very very affectionate.
Love the loook of them my favourite breed.

I've always like arabians. Someone that lives down the street from me had two arabians name Amazon & Cashmire. l always loved like the weekor two before fourth of july because their owners would walk the horses into town so they would get used to it & not really spook in the parade on fourth of July. They always walked by my house & so l would get to see them & pet them all the time. Sadly Amazon has passed on, but they still have Cashmire. She is high spirited, & the sweetest horse ever. l think she gets lonely in the paddock all alone now. Maybe its just stereotype with people describing the to be scary, l think that they r just high-spirited. When l think arabian l think adventure not a crazy fire breathing dragon. Any horse can have any attitude, temper, & personality, but some people try to put certain traits completely on the backs of cerrtain breeds, even though it does not explain every horse, all of them r unique & different.

Arabians are beautiful! Some of them are high strung while others are completely calm. Each one is different. My mum personally thinks that if a horse breed has been called tipsy she wo not even bother with them when some of them are as calm as anything! She is so difficult!

l like them, they have very beautiful muzzles! l mean.i ai not no like Professional Arabian person, but my 12 years of experience on the back of a horse (i'm 14), l like their, l wanna learn, have fun-ness, but they r high strung! They r not really ''the best'' horse for a beginner rider.haha, my horse,Kalypso, is a 7yr old Arabian-Paint/Quarter Horse Mix, so he has half-of a half of arabian, & in cold weather.YOU CAN TELL HE'S GOT THAT THIRD(he gets very hyper) but in summer, spring, and fall, its all Quarter Horse! l swear l could not enter him in any thing arabian, the people would scream,''GET YOUR FUNNY QUARTER HORSE OUT OF HERE!!!,'' haha- but l figure l have the best of both worlds! :D l like arabians b/c of their intelligence & trustfulness HAVE NOTICED THAT, like a lot of horse movies like the long shot, & black stallion, all use arabians, b/c its so easy to gain their trust, its like a fiery crazy horse, but in the inside-their all mushy love!
good luck with ur PUREBRED ARABIAN haha - she is not a dragon, no worries, their just like any other breed! l love em' wait r u in Parelli Savvy Club!?!?!?

So you are asking this question looking for the answer you've already decided is the right one.
l think Arabs are gorgeous, but some of the lines are a little nuts. Just like some TB lines are crazy, or Dutch Warmblood lines or any other breed has less than outstanding lines. Stuff happens, take it case by case.
And there is a difference between a horse being hot and a horse being stupid hot and/or crazy.

out of all the breeds of horses, the Arab is the most beautiful (they are also the foundation to most other breeds)

My first horse & he is a pure bred Arabian, bought him direct from the stud as an unbroken four year old, broke him myself ( l had been around horses for 19 years before this, including breaking, & competing with Arabian Stallions).
We have been together eight & a half years now & he is the best horse l could ever have hoped for, we have done show jumping, cross country, endurance, hunting & generally having a great time.
He is very intelligent, very lively, honest, trusting & such fun. If out with friends on one of the gallop tracks up the side of the fell then l can sometimes have no brakes at all & on the flip side l can ride him without any tack, rope or form of formal control & he is foot perfect. He also loves going out for walks up the fell with me & my dogs again no halter or ropes he just does what he wants, either walking along beside me or grazing & then cantering around & comes to a whistle.
Whew, l do go on when l start! Yes l think alot of people do think they r crazy but in my opinion they r misinformed.

l completley know what u mean!!! l just got an arabian a couple of months ago..first l had a morgan & people were suprised l liked that breed ( l guess there ''crazy'' lol mine was the most laid-back horse ever) Then when l said l was getting an arabian, people either rolled there eyes or started laughing. Everyone where l live has a quarter horse( nothing wrong with them.im just not a fan) so when l got an arabian some people were actually really mean to me, a couple of people at my barn called my horse ''Alpo'' or dog food, & said they think arabians r the only horse that should go to slaughter!!! People r stupid sometimes, Fame is a really good & smart horse, he just has alot of energy :D

l own a 15.3 hh Polish Arab gelding. He is the smartest horse l have ever owned, & I've owned many. While he challenges me with his intelligence, it is fun & exciting to work with such a horse. He is an amazing athlete, & can perform upper level dressage, & championship level western pleasure & performance. He goes bitted & bitless, & can be trusted on the most challenging trails, or in the most crowded & stressful arena conditions. He is also bonded to me like a dog...the Arabian way of bonding with humans is different from any of the other breeds I've owned. If u have the skill & stamina to handle a high spirited & intelligent breed like an Arabian, it is well worth the effort & very rewarding.

Arabs are naturally high strung and flighty and that itself turns a lot of people off them. l love Arabs. l find them to be so willing to please. If you find one that fits, hang on to it :)
