Thanks! We are getting a vet check done right now actually. Yeah I am pretty sure he is a purebred. He was sired out of Starpion and has Leo on his mother is side.

To me he does not look like he'd be the best at jumping. He has a VERY long back in proportion to his flank area. Nice legs and beautiful face with a very kind eye. l love his coloring too! Riding trails and doing flat work is something he'd probably be best at.

Hes beautiful! He looks overall, very even. His hip and shoulder legnth are about the same, and he has a straight back, as far as l could see, and l have a soft spot for greys!

He is a bit long in the back and his shoulder does not look that great for jumping. But it is all in the personality right? He is a beautiful horse.

idk about how long his back would last cause it looks a bit long & also is looks like he may have or starting to have a ''hunters bump'' from jumping so much
i have a 17hd Canadian Sport Horse who jumped 3 feet for 5 or so years before l bought him & he developed a hunters bump & now is unsound to ride due to it i paid $200 for him as a trail horse, l knew he had the hunters bump but l didnt know it was that bad when l bought him until l got the vet out cause he started to get aggressive when u saddled him up & were trying to get on him; now he is just sitting out the pasture & l cant even give him away
so get a vet check on him before u buy him, make sure to have his legs & back checked well esp if ur planning on jumping him

l would like to see a picture of him without a saddle on- you never know what could be hiding under there! He is really refined for a QH, is he purebred? I'd like to see his bloodlines.

He is a beauty, but be careful. Leo is r known to be hot & unpredictable, but he looks like a very sweet boy. He has a very calm, kind eye. l really like that. His back is long, but then again, l ride western & do not know much on how a hunter is build is suppose to look like. l would not think that long backs r great for jumping, but TB have long backs & they excel at jumping. His hocks r a bit out, but that could be the way he is standing. he does not appear to be stiffle hocked, or kneed in. I'd like to see how his neck ties in with his withers, but the saddle is covering it up. His neck ties in with his chest good, & he has a good clean throatlatch. His coloring is very flashy, & will definately turn heads. l personally love his build. l think he is lovely, & would buy him in a heartbeat if he vetted out. =D

hmm.he is pretty decent in general- he is fairly long though-- l can not get over the weird blotchy spots on his right side though--that definitely detracts from his nice appearance.but ohh well..who cares?
Good Luck with him! BB

Overall he is okay, but not built super for jumping. He has a large shoulder (which is good) but it is very upright & his forearm is quite short (best seen in the walking picture). An upright shoulder makes a horse short strided & choppy. A short forearm also limits their reach. This will affect how they place in hunter u/s classes & it will limit how adjustable they r on course. When jumping, short strided horses often have trouble in combinations or in-and-outs. He probably will be maxed out at 3'. If u ask him to jump an in-and-out at his maximum height he will probably get to the second fence long due to his short stride. He may try to take the long distance & will then crash or take a rail (particulary if the second fence is an oxer), chip-in which could also cause a crash or a rail down, or he will get scared & stop. If u r only jumping small courses, a horse can miss their distance & usually still get over the fence. Even with single fences u may find that if he gets in long that he prefers to ''chip in'' as opposed to taking the long distance. This can be very rough feeling & alarming for a novice over fences or for a rider who has a habit of getting ahead. That said, his hind end seems pretty good. It is not perfect but he does have a long & powerful gaskin (that part of the leg in between the stifle & hock). You can also draw a straight line (almost!) from the highest point of his croup to the stifle which indicates more strength for jumping. His lower legs also appear straight & balanced, nice pasterns, balanced hoof angle & he does have a gorgeous face. l would not worry too much about the longer back. It may make him a little sore as he ages, but sometimes I've found that short strided horses r able to compensate for their lack of reach simply because their bodies r so long that they still cover ground in between the jumps. If u intend to compete at even c rated shows at that height, l would ask to see his owner or trainer take him through a 1 stride combination at 3' (or whatever height u want to show at) based on the standard 12' stride that they use at usef h/j shows. If he can do it then great! If not u need to understand that more training is probably not going to fix the problem- it is his body type, not his education that limits his stride length. If u only intend on doing schooling shows then u will probably be fine as they often do not include combinations in their courses.
