l have a show saddle and no bridle so ive been watching ebay for one to match it and l bought one but its way way to light for my saddle so l need to sell it. yes l know big mistake. But l wanna know what color my saddle is so l can find one to match it but im not 100% sure on the color if its tan or light oil or what can anyone help me?

l almost want to say that it once was light & someone took a dark oil to it & darkened it as it is sorta splotchy in spots.
l did the same to a set of reins.

l am not sure what to call it either. That is the exact same color of most of my tack. Remember before you sell the bridle that you can oil it so it will darken to match the saddle. If you live where there are Fleet Farms, they sell good quality bridles for about 20 bucks. They are Weaver Leather, mine have lasted for years and they are that color.

Hmm. If l were advertising it, l would say it was ''tobacco''. l believe that you Americans generally use that or ''oakbark'' when describing that sort of colour.

u know, if u oil the bridle heavily, it should darken it considerably. And most likely, you're not going to find a perfect match unless the bridle & the sadle come from the same manufacturer, & even then l doubt there is a gaurantee. l took my bridle & placed it in a plastic bag filled with leather oil for about 24 hours. Not only did it richen up the color, but the leather was icredibly supple- the reins did not have that 'new leather' stiffness & actually made it much easier to handle when in use

l would say the color is Russet or Tan. Matching the bridle color over the internet might be tricky. Ask the seller to send extra photos in daylight so you can compare. Look at the saddles on the link below. The Russets and the Tans look a lot like your color.

However, since the bridle you bought is lighter, take it to a tack shop or leather worker and see if they can color it a little to match your saddle. My dad worked leather and he had a lot of colors.

That saddle is called a medium brown.

Now you've called it a ''show saddle'' when in all rights it is a roping saddle. l am not too sure it was made in the US either. See the thin dee rings and leather connector strap? Sure sign that it was probably made in Mexico ( l know, that is something you did not want to hear.).

The leather is curling because it is dry.
