If u have read my other Trinkett questions well listen here! l said she was $10 000 but she is really only $5000. l thought she was more because face it a trained horse will be more money especially a trained school horse. l need to make money to save up and i'm 12 years of age so please can l have some PRACTICAL !!
i love going at a CONTROLLED faster paces. l adore SHOWJUMPING and X-COUNTRY. But the main urse will be PONY CLUB and PLEASURE.

Check with your local golf courses as a caddy. Unfortunately there is not much work out there for 12 year olds due to child labor laws. Have a garage sale, or sell your video games or whatever on ebay.

depending on where u live there r places like old folks homes or hospitals u can maybe get work at as a candy striper/ meal deliverer or something like that. old people LOVE kids ur age & l will bet if you're allowed to accept tips it would not be terrible money. u would need to get ur parents/gaurdians to sign stuff to make it legal for u to be hired on somewhere. Now if u want to avoid all of that unpleasantness take a wholesome picture of ur self & stick it on a flyer saying, ''need help cleaning up? Trustworthy pre-teen available from this time to this time.'' make sure to blanket places like bingo parlors & neighborhoods where it is well known that lots of elderly people live there. some of these people really need help & r rolling in cash. And some of them, as sad as it is, r just really lonely & might have u do some dusting & vacuuming & have u sit & talk to them a while. You could specifically say, ''does not do..'' & list whatever is totally unreasonable. But u can make up ur own charges like say $8 per room $5 per hour. so if u spend 1 hour cleaning 2 rooms that is already $21.

Just a word of caution - $5000 sounds like a lot for an old school horse. School horses come with all sorts of terrible problems & habits because they have never really had proper training & people have been using & abusing them for years while they r trying to learn to ride. If u r going to spend that kind of money u would be better to look for a younger horse that was professionally trained & privately owned. Much better training, few problems, better care = better horse!
As for making money - most establishments r not allowed to hire anyone under 14 so try working for parents, neighbors or friends like mowing lawns or doing chores. You could also get a paper route. If u live in the country, mucking stalls is always a good option.

If this is your first horse, perhaps you would like to get a beginner horse that does not have papers. The $5000 dollar price tag sounds like a lot. And a horse with out papers is still a good horse, and they can do just as much if not more. When your ready to move up (eventing/breeding/what ever your interest) you will have more money saved up, and could possible trade or sell your current horse. And more experience under your belt.

First thing l did was specific research on what it would cost ME & only me to own a horse where l plan to. i.e $70 per month in agistment, $20 per month for farrier & around $700 for saddle, bridle, bit, rug etc. l drew up an entire plan & took it to my mum.

She said if l can save at least $600 in six months (to cover six months of agistment & emergency vet fees or personal wants) we can go into discussion. Her idea was (if l save enough by April 10th) we start talking about a budget. She told me she'd pay for the set up costs (horse, saddle, bridle etc, the basics), farrier, worming, dentist & part of emergency vet visits (if any) if l could pay agistment. After the first year, she gets a much better deal.

l am getting $15 per week for chores & extra money for extra jobs. All this money goes into an unopenable tin (those $2 ones from the shop that need a can opener) until April 10th. l suggest u just draw up a plan & be willing to compromise with ur parents about costs etc. Be comitted to it though, if u give up, out goes the idea of getting a horse. If u want it bad enough, u will get it. I've been riding for ten years & still have not gotten my own due to other circumstances so u can probably understand my need.

Hope it helps & good luck on entering the world of equine! (:

Well, if you love horses, go get a job as a stable hand. They pay about $10 a hour so you have to work hard.

$5000 is a lot of money for someone of your age to save up. Besides babysitting jobs, teaching riding lessons, pet-sitting, and mowing laws, you should go to the bank and try to open a savings account to make your money grow and talk to your parents. Maybe you could lease/half lease a horse.

There r many ways for ur age kids to work. $5000.00 is a lot of money remember. (as u know,) Do u have money for to rest of the year, shots, farrier, bedding, hay, food, dental care, wormer. All that comes to about $1500 a year more or less. Anyway after settling that here r some ideas for u for a job.

*Pet sit for neighbors.
*work at a stable grooming horses before their lesson, muck out stalls, feed the horses or taking them out.
*have a bake sale
*car wash.these r thing for off & on jobs
*Work for ur parents for family or neighbor weeding, cleaning their homes, gardening, babysitting.ect.
*Since it is winter.clear the snow out of driveways for money.
Hope these help!

Sorry, but if u have to scrape up money to take care of ur horse, u do not have enough money to have one. Face it: horses r expensive. 12 year olds cannot legally work, so u can not legally make money. l am getting my working papers in November, so l have to wait to get my working papers, then get a job, so l can buy a horse. Most places let u work as a groom in exchange for a stall (what l plan to do). But horses r still really, really, expensive. In NY, boarding is $200 - $1,000 per month. That is $2,400 - $12,000 year. The vet is $300 - $1,500 per year. The dentist is $100 - $300 per year. The farrier is $600 - $1,600 per year. So assuming that u already have tack, owning a horse will cost u $3,400 - $15,400 per year. And that is assuming nothing goes wrong with the horse. Until u r old enough to get a job, chances r u wo not be able to have a horse. And u have to wait at least 2 years for that, the minimum age is 14.
