at the moment l am loaning a 7y/o Arab mare who means everything to me but as we only have her for 6 months and have already had just over 1 we were starting to think that if shes not the right horse we should startto look. l do not have any pictures of me on her on the computer but she is 14hh 2 and l am nearly 5'8 but have very long legs and a small body. Everyone l have spoken to at my yard has said that l look perfect size wise and not to worry but because there our friends l do not know if its just being polite. What do you think if its possible to tell with the details? also if not then do you know any tips on buying or websites to look in the UK? thanks

you might look alright on her at the moment but you will grow so she will probably be ok to last the lease but eventually you are going to want a bigger a horse.

l personally think you're too tall for her but it depends how heavy u r & how deep her body is. If she carries u well then l do not really see the problem but i'm also 5'8 & l have long legs & l ride no smaller than probably a 15.3hh & l feel big on that. At the moment l ride a 17.2hh.

Do ur feet come underneath her belly? If so, you're gonna look to big for that mare. It is up to u really. l have seen tall ladies riding arabs in endurance but sometimes it looks a bit bizarre.

l think that your question should be ''Do l LOOK too big on this horse not are you too big!!! Maybe yes you do look too big for her. Depends whether that is your main concern or not. l ride a 14.2 and a 16.2, but then l am more concerned with having fun and l just love horses, rather than what l look like.

l am 5'10'' myself & look tall on anything under 16hh that does not have a deep girth. I've ridden my fair share of smaller horses though & it all depends on the horse is build as to weather or not u look too big on her.

l have a 15.3hh APHA mare that when l ride western, with longer stirrups, l look a little tall for, because my feet go a bit below her belly. even though she is very deep girthed. English on the other hand l fit her well because of the shorter stirrups.

l think u will probably be ok for the 6 months, maybe even the next year, but u probably want to start looking for a taller horse.

l would think u probably r slightly to tall for her, im 5'6'' & l dont ride anything below 15hh usually. my boy is 15.2 & l feel right on him but really my most comfortable height is between 15.2 & 16.2.

If you have long legs then you probably do look a little disproportionate on an arab mare. if it were a horse with a deeper girth area it would probably be fine. Im sure she can carry you just find and if you have fun riding her then it should not really be a problem. but if you are going to show any, you may want to go up to about 15H or higher. But remember, bigger isnt always better.

yes l think your going to want one around 15hands.14.2 is not very big.

You are already two inches to tall for her, When you ride a 14.2 horse you should be 5'6''. l do not know your weight, but l guessing she can carry you, a horse can only cary 20% of it is body weight.

yes
