Im 5'5'' and weigh 107 pounds.l set up a deal with my trainer where l do a night of feed/hay/water etc. and in return l get a practice ride.She said l could pretty much ride whoever l wanted.There is this one horse that l have not ridden in a really long time and would like to ride.She is very stubborn and ussually only gets beginners on her back so l think it would be good practice to work with her.Thing is she is only about 14.2hh.She has a pretty big barrel though.Would l be too big to ride and jump her affectively?

no, you can jump her, most adults can even ride ponies like halflingers. you might be a little big but you sound ok

l think you are a little to big for her. l would not take a chance and she gets hurt.

No lol, l am 5'5'' also and weigh 112, l sometimes ride/jump a 13.3hh pony.
And she is a quarab, so it is not like she is a heavy pony either.

l think you'd be fine. There is a pony at my barn who is about the same size. She also gets mostly beginners on her, so my instructor had me jump her around, work on flying lead changes, etc.- stuff she would not be doing with beginners. l am 5'3'' and weigh more than you do, and my instructor was saying that she was a good size for me. Normally, l ride 16- 17 hand warmbloods and thoroughbreds, but l felt fine on her.

Ha ha, at 107lbs, there really is not very much that you can not ride.
You will be fine on this 14.2hh, and by the sounds of it it will be just what it needs!!!

Heck no. Many adults over 160lbs + ride ponies like that!

You r fine horses can carry up to 20% of their own weight. The mare ur talking a bout is probably somewhere between 850-950 so she can carry 180-190 pounds. Now obviously that would be too much to jump but u only weigh 107 that is not too big at all, u r actually going to be easy. My friend (about 140 pounds) has an Arab who is is 14.1 & she jumps her regularly. The most important thing is to make sure u warm her up properly & u make sure u listen to her as to how high she can jump with u & u don;t want to give her more work then she ready for. So once again u r NOT to big for her don;t listen to the others that say u are. Glad to here u get extra practice & if she is stubborn it will make it funner too!!!

the horse would not know you were on it.107 lbs.is not a load for this horse.i ride all sizes of horses,14-17 hands.no prob-i tip the scales at230lbs.i grew up on horses,rode them to school.today l ride mules,love them,also pack into the mtns. on them,my pack mule is 14.1 she is loaded 180lbs.use scales to make sure that is all you have on her.

my trainer has a pony who is 14.2 and my trainer is about your height but definitely bigger then you and rides her all the time. l am 110 and l ride the pony all the time too. l think its fine as long as you are light on her back and do not crash down on her. If you weighed 150 pounds you might have a problem but you are not anywhere near that so you should be fine!

l do not think you're too big to ride her, l am probobly around the same size, and l ride horses about that big.
