l ride at a very laid back stable. They have maybe ten horses who do not really differ in size. They use all different saddles on different horses and rotate different saddles on different horses. But it seems like each saddle l use, l have a different ride. Would it be necessary to use my own saddle?

It is best to have a saddle that is specifically fitted to ur horse. l have several different horses, & a saddle for each one because even though they may be the same size, they r all built differently. Also, l have one horse that has a skin condition that is contagious. If we ride him, then put a wet saddle blanket on another horse, then that horse is also apt to get it. So, he has his own blanket. You want to be sure that u r not possibly transferring something from one horse to another. l am pretty particular about my bits as well, moreso with outside horses than mine, but u never know who has had what shots, etc.

A saddle that has been built for you and your horse will help improve your seat and make you a better rider than a poorly fitting saddle will.
Most people make do with whatever saddle they can lay their hands on. Unless you are intending to move towards intensive and advanced sport, then buying your own saddle would be an unnecessary expense at your stage of riding.
It is more important that the saddle fits the horse than fitting you.

Yea l worked at a laid back stable. Yes we did rotate saddles for each horse BUT what ever saddle we would use we would have a saddle fitter check before we put a lesson kid on the horse due to horses can get severly hurt with ill fitting tack & then they throw a fit & u get hurt. But if people have been riding these horses in these saddles for a while the hroses probably just accept it. Different saddles can do different things to ur body so everytime u switch to a new saddle u will have a new result

It would not necessarily be something you would have to do but l would suggest it because your horse could get sores on his back or prevent his movement. GLAD TO HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elsa, l have seen this practice at several places I've worked at over the years- unfortunately, it is an all too common one, especially in situations where people r trying to cut costs any way they can. In an ideal world, EVERY horse at the barn would have his or her OWN saddle, fitted specifically to that particular animal, & used on NO OTHER horse. Rotating saddles among different horses is not considered good management for a number of reasons, starting with the fact that every horse is different & has different needs when it comes to saddle fit, & a poorly fitted saddle can cause severe pain in the back & neck, not to mention saddle sores, fistulas of the withers, & girth galls. However, from ur question, it sounds as though this barn u ride at is more than laid back, Elsa- they r operating on a shoestring budget, & r trying to cut costs however & wherever they can. They may be unable or unwilling to assign every horse his or her own tack- & at this point in ur riding, investing in ur own saddle is not necessarily a good idea unless u plan to stay with the sport long enough to become really advanced. Another point to consider is that there r many facilities which will not allow lesson participants to use their own equipment unless they r also boarders with their own horses. If u r only riding school horses, investing in ur own tack does not make much sense right now, either from a practical standpoint or from a financial one. What l would do instead is try to make sure that each time u ride a particular horse, the saddle u r using is the one u rode in the previous week- & if this is not the case, ask if u can switch the tack out prior to ur lesson. ( If u do not know how to tack up a horse, get ur instructor to teach u how to do this- NO horseperson should EVER be without this skill. )
Good luck- l hope this helps.

id suggest going to a different stable. sometimes if you want to get farther in horseback riding a place with more horses and better saddles maybe be better.
dont get me wrong l used to ride at a laid back stable and l wasnt learning much and there was one saddle, then a new trainer moved in and suddenly we had 10 school horses and ten saddles and jumps and dressage cones, then we moved to a better barn so far.
so it depends on what you feel.

its probably the best idea if you have your own saddle, but if you cant, thats fine. but if they rotate saddles on different horses, its probably fine if you use theirs. if you're gonna continue to ride them, you could get a saddle thats the same size of your barns. l hope this helps :)
