umm only joking... sorry....
just really wanted some advice and no-one here seems to give it unless you catch their attention...

so moving on...
i wanna feed my 15 yo 14.3hh welsh cob some kind of oil to help his mane grow. he lost it due to sweet itch last year. the sweet itch has now gone but his mane is really short in patches.
i've heard flax oil is very good but linseed oil is cheaper?
which should l go for...and how much should l feed him? he has one feed a day and is in light-medium work. he is sensitive to sugar and a VERY good-doer! haha! (anyone who has ever owned a welsh cob will know what l mean...)

sorry for the trick title... thanks x
i should also add he lives out all year in good rugs and does not come into the stable. him and three other ponies share one bale of hay per day and he has a haynet when l bring him in to feed him/groom him every evening. and ride him when the weather is good enough.

Okay, l am SO happy you did not really kill your horse!!!!!
For growing a mane, you can buy a treatment called mtg. It works really well, l have used it everywhere. Of course you can also use corn oil, it works better ( l found) then flax seed oil. You feed your horse 2 cap fulls daily to condition and maintain a healthy coat.

MTG is available online (search shapleys mtg) and corn oil is available in your grocery store.

NEVER KILL YOUR HORSE

the sweet itch will come bk as the hair will. the best thing to do is to try to prevent the same damage been done next yr.
the cheapest stuff we have used to help it is benzelbenzate (think that is how you spell it). it is also used for humans with crabs!!
maybe you could bring him in for a few hrs in the summer when the bugs are around.

Flax seed or Linseed oil and Vitamin E supplement
Horse hoof supplement (Omega is and Biotin for hair)
massaging the mane area
massaging in Shreiners Herbal Solution (fantastic stuff!)
MTG is also good but stinks

So if u r looking for a product to apply to the horse then MTG is a great one to try as long as u follow the directions & actually use the product. Keep in mind it will not make the hairs grow overnight in to a long mane. Nothing does that except extensions. You can buy it here:

If u want something to feed the horse then flaxseed is ur best option. Linseed & flaxseed r the same thing by the way. The addition of 2-4 ounces of whole flaxseed to a horse diet daily or every other day will make a tremendous contribution to improved skin & coat condition, hoof growth, rate of healing from injury, & arthritic conditions. Plus as a welcome bonus, the seeds r high in mucilage, which is a wonderful G l tract lubricant & is very useful in preventing impaction is & colic.
It used to be advised to grind or soak the seeds first but this is not really necessary. The old fashioned way to feed flax to horses was to cook it, usually for hours. This opened the seed coat & removed any possibility of toxicity due to the cyanogenic glycosides that were present in the seed coat of the old variety. Unfortunately, extensive cooking destroys all the omega-3 fatty acids, although all the other good nutrients (the protein fraction & other fats) remained, so it ws still a valuable feed. However, modern cultivates of flaxseed no longer contain glycoside & hence r safe if fed whole. You can grind or soak the seeds for 20 minutes prior to feeding, but this is not really necessary.

you should really take that question off because killing ur horse is not something to joke around about.on the bright side, im glad u didnt really kill ur horse. anyway, l am sorry about ur horses sickness thing. l think u could u should get the flax oil because maybe even though the other one is cheaper, it might not work as good.

That is not something to joke about, you've just earned yourself less , no one wants to help a liar.

l use mtg.
l kinda smells like bacon grease so if you use it in the summer be sure to fly spray your horse after. My horse grew about half an inch in a month. l chopped his mane really short because his past owner never brushed him so his mane was very knotty.

goodluck

p.s. Never kill your horse. Thats NOT a good thing :]

O-M-G!! People, chill out. The title served it is purpose, it caught you attention, did it not? l think it was actually a pretty good trick!!

ANYWAYS...flax seed (not oil) is really good. It helps your horse is main and tail grow, makes their coat shiney, and strengthens their hooves. and idk about linseed oil...

Good luck!!
