Please just tell me everything I am doing wrong :-P l do not currently have a trainer, after 6 months of no riding cause of my broken legs Im back and ready to ride!!! l know my posture on my canter is horrendous and my heels are def not down at all but please comment!! Also do note that Im not planning to do serious shows with Maude and she is more of just a fun ride! also her previous owner had not ridden her for over 7 months so she gained the worst hay belly :'( please comment on her and my form since these are some of her first cross-rails

It looks like you're having fun with ur horse. She looks happy & healthy, & while you're right - ur form is not the best - you're not so bad that you're causing her any harm. l like that you're jumping at a height that is appropriate for ur ability.

As u know, ur leg is loose, but if u have not ridden for a while, its going to be. Ride without stirrups as much as possible to tighten it up.

Over fences - try & stay a little closer to ur saddle - think slide ur hips back, not opening ur knee & hip angle. You need to open up ur upper body & get the roach out of ur back too.

l think you're doing a pretty good job with a horse whose conformation - long back, short neck - cannot make her all that comfortable to ride. Try & get in some lessons with a trainer soon though, before those bad habits get really set - muscle memory is a hard thing to change!

as u know ur a bit tall for her and who cares if ur leg is loose, l have been riding for 10 years now and my leg ai not TIGHT im not bothered but my horse does not mind, he is laid back.

As long as ur having fun with her and everything its fine.

SHE IS SO CUTE and the other horse they are both pretty!!

l think you are doing well. l would just say keep your leg on when you go over the jump. If l were you l would start to jump a bit higher, you are ready for that. ''Gymnastics'' i.e. one or two strides between several jumps should help you feel your leg more and correct the problem.
