l was so frustrated and mad last night. Was talking [through someone else] online to someone last night that had a horse tieing up and thick white discharge out of the nostrils.Horse could not move well and was staggering.

Could not even take the horse is temperature.Said they did not own a thermometer!!!!No one to borrow one from either!Aaaauuuuggghhhh!!!!Why??Why??Why???????

**And WOULDN'T call a vet.I am mad and angry about this but the question is.........

What do you think...is absolutely necessary in your first aid kit for horses??
Kevin???WHERE is your thermometer?Do you just press your wrist against the horse is ''bum'' and use your super sensitive ''degree detecting'' skin cells to tell you if your horse has a temperature??ROFLOL!!!

My first aid kit has way too many things to mention. It is about the size of a suit case and rolls on wheels b/c l can not pick it up if that tells you anything. l probably have too much stuff, and also have items l am not 100% sure l know how to use, but if l have them and someone is there who does know how then my horse does not have to suffer.

These might not all be absolutely necessary, but these r things that l prefer to have on hand:

thermometer
vet wrap
cotton balls
iodine and/or bedadine solution
peroxide
blood stop powder
eye wash solution
scissors
knife
aloe cream
pvp
swat ointment
ice tight
thermaflex
ringworm ointment

rubber gloves

~When at the racetrack, these r additional items that r useful:

bute
furazone
pillow wraps/standing bandages
hoof spray- mix of formaldehyde & iodine
blue kote
ulcer medicine
epsom salt

~ l think the absolute essentials should include some type of solution to clean/disinfect a wound, something to wrap/bandage with, thermometer, some type of salve, a sharp knife/scissor to cut with, & something to help keep swelling/inflammation down such as icepack, mud, poultice, etc. Bute would also be quite handy to have around in some cases.

As l have not talked with the 3rd party yet today...Well a few Items that should be on hand is Banimine, needles, syringes, a digital thermometers, bute, Ace, Antibiotics, ect there r so many things to list, l am fortunate that my sister is a vet & always carries around like 2 huge boxes of Veterinary stuff. l will agree it was very frustrating. l also get very upset at the Please who post ''help me emergency'' questions on YA & the amount of people who will NOT provide proper Vet care for their horses!!!

My immediate first aid kit includes (and l believe all of these r absolutely necessary imo): stethoscope, thermometer, aspirator, long surgical Q-tips, gauze, cotton balls, clean sponges, various bandages, liquid bandage adhesive, super glue, vet wrap, saline solution, bedadine, iodine, hydrogen peroxide, prescription banamine paste, scissors, surgical tape, duct/electrical tape, prescription poly bac eye ointment, nufurazone, dmso liquid, Bio-Sponge by Platinum for absorbing ingested toxins, rubbing alcohol, heating pad, liniment, poultice, box of professional grade purple surgical gloves (chemical resistant), 100% t-tree oil, extra long surgical tweezers, & clippers.
