l REALLY want a horse, and my parents BOTH know that. They also know that l am a good and well-educated rider, and that l am responsible. My Mom thinks that l can handle owning a horse, however, my Dad does not. He says he does not think that l will love having one after l get it.l know l will, but how do l convince him of that?

P.S.~ l have been riding and grooming and cleaning horses for almost 3 years now!

P.S.S~ Any tips on how to raise money too!
I am only twelve, but l was thinking of seeing if there was a way that l could get a job at a stable down my road sometime this spring...If you have any tips on how l should ask about that, that'd be great too!!

l had the same prolem with my parents and now l have two horses.All you got to do is get up really early and go do chores and stuff for your parents.And dont stop even if they say you still arent getting one because it is just a test to see if you really want one. l am not sure how you can raise money because mine were free because they came form a rescue.Maybe you should get one from a rescue to

get a lease on a horse. ask the owner though- if you and the horse work out- would you be able to buy it? this will show him that you will go through with your commitment.
Get a job at a local barn, or tack shop.

Tell your dad is taking away something you love so much! Tell him iv been doing this for three years!And if l was to get tired of doing it l would of already quit. But l havent so theres no reason to think l would!Justtell if to think about it and walk away!
As for raising money,ask around and ask family members what yu could do to make money!That what l did=]

well first l will help with ur dad
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1.1 way would be is to keep with ur mom until she really wants u to have 1 then try to make her help u fight ur dad because one thing l know about dads is after they have there minds made up they will never change %100 maybe he will let u join a stable but in the end he will have to be half right. but if ur mom talks to him he will take her serious & maybe that will change his DESIGN. but do not be there when the mom talks & do not let the mom tell him that u made her tell him also if u do get a horse do not rub it in his face or else he will either change his mind or not ever give in in the further.
===================================================
2. trick him to meet a horse u want & make sure he falls in love so then he will want in making him let u have it so he can get to it
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ok now l help with money
===================================================
try to make a huge bake sale & that could get u maybe $100
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
make a huge yard sale but make it in a busy place maybe find a small thrift shop in the middle of town
===================================================
just ask everyone u see for maybe $1 then in about a week u will have maybe $50
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
go around town into every shop & look around & ask a question while the clerk is focused take like 5 cents from take a penny leave a penny then drop 1 of them in for an excuse to go into ur purse/wallet
===================================================
hope this helped ;)

l had the same problem.

Ask ur parents if u can get a lease. It will show if u really can handle a horse with out the full commitment of buying one.

Just because ur a skilled rider does not mean u can handle owning a horse. l learned alot more with my horse in 6 months than l ever had with 4 years of riding lessons. It was way different than taking lessons.

Raising money- babbysitting, raking leaves, shoveling snowy driveways, saving all ur b-day money, mowing lawns, helping people in their gardens, walking dogs, petsitting

Tell ur parents u should buy a horse in the next year because there alot of people who need to sell their horse pretty soon because they r tight on money right now, so u could get some good prices.

Good luck on getting a horse.

ps. get a vet check b4 u buy!!!! l had a friend who was told that her horse was 13 & after she bought it they had the vet look at it & it is actually 20.

l had the exact same problem!! My dad finally agreed to get me a horse after my friends grandparents, his beat friend & my mom talked to him. l also had to show him that l knew how to take care of a horse. l also had to show him how well l could ride already after under a year of lessons. On top of all this it might help if u ask a riding instructor or someone who ur dad trusts & has seen u ride & take care of a horse to talk to him. But, the most important thing to do is to not get upset at little or big things & to show him that u r responsible enough to care for a horse. Do extra chores as well. And last but not least..do not beg. Hope this helps & l hope u get a horse!! Good luck!

l had the same problem just a few months ago.. l had been leasing a horse for over a year & a half & l really wanted to buy him. l was frustrated with the owners, he was not getting the care he deserved, & l was barely getting to see him because the farm where he was was so far away.
l first talked to my mom about it. l loaded her down with logical reasons why l should be able to buy him. (He is not on the right type of feed, he has not had his teeth done in 2 years & he needs it badly, etc.) l have a farm in my neighborhood so l explained that it would be so much more convenient for her if we bought him & brought him there.
l did not even have to say anything to my dad. My mom talked him into it & they surprised me. l thought there was no way in the world l would ever get a horse but it worked!

As far as money making, l had been paying $110 out of pocket for the lease. The easiest & most logical thing to do would be babysit, petsit, etc. If that is no good, try doing chores around the house, or bake sales.

Good luck, & l hope this helps :]

how much does ur dad go out & see u ride/work with horses? if he sees how dedicated u r & how well ur doing then that might help convince him. also if ur trainer thinks ur ready for a horse then it might help for them to talk to him, because they're the one who really knows this stuff, & l know dads like it to come from professionals & people who understand ownership of horses. ur trainer can help a lot too because most of the time ur trainer is the best source to find a good horse that will be suitable for u based on skill & the money u can spend. just keep with the horses & maybe do a bit of buttering up to ur dad, by doing chores before they tell u to do them & just help out more around the house. believe me it helps if done correctly, do not constantly bug them for a horse just mention it from time to time & keep up with doing chores. hope l helped at least a little!

add - for trying to get a job working at a stable go & see the owner of the barn & ask if they're looking for any extra help. make sure they know how long you've been around horses & that u r capable of doing the tasks they ask of you. often by writing a polite letter with info on ur experience works. so go on down to the stable & try talking to the owner & see how it goes.

You can show your parents how much you know about them by writing an essay on them or making a big power point. Also RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!! Make sure that you know everything about horses. Good luck!! Horses are wonderful animals : )
