For a liver chestnut gelding. l have been looking for a year to find a horse like him. if he passes the vet check l think we are going to buy him. Hes got no leg markings and a thick stripe (close to a blaze)

if you dont like these names, what are some of your suggestions?

(must be a person sort of name, but has to have some sort of meaning behind it like the ones l suggested.)

l like Dante best, then Santo. l think Donatello is too long, it will get to be a mouthful and you will end up shortening it to some nickname. Then you will end up with a horse you call Don and that is no good, not very sophisticated at all :)

l love Sebastain/Sebastien It means venerable
(which l did not know the meaning of so l looked it up & got this: Venerable - profoundly honoured) .

*personally l prefer the French version (Sebastien) over the Greek (Sebastain) but ur horse, & therefore ur choice =P


l also think Othello is a nice name for a horse. it is sophisticated too.

ADD: Sorry, l forgot to say which of the names u picked that l liked the best. l am going to have to disagree with the first two posters & say l like Amato the best. l agree with the poster who said Donatello is a bit of a mouthful too.

Personally l enjoy Dantello. l am not quite sure of the meaning, but l assume it means steadfast like dante! It is pronounced dawn-tell-oh. Dante I've heard before, and l actually recognize so you may want to stray from that one.

l do not really have any ideas right now and l am too lazy to look some up =) Haha sorry. But honestly I'd go with Donatello or Dantello.

l suggest you pick a name that you can say quickly like stormy or lilly. If you do that it helps then to learn their name fast and they will recognize that they are being called more easily!!

l think Donatello is my fav. You can call him donnie for short. l used to know someone with a horse with that name.it was very cute!

l like Dante best. It is cute, sophisticated, and the horse will recognize it better.

which means little red one. It is kind of strange, & a little too human l think, but just throwin that out there. Also, l think the name

Adeste

would be beautiful, & his full name could be Adeste Fideles, l think it means Come all ye faithful, & as u know, it is from a xmas song, so if u do not celebrate xmas.

because it means beloved, & a horse will definitely be beloved to you, l would know! l really like the sound of

Dante

though, shorter names r best for horses, so l do not like the other 2 as much.
