l was looking at horses to buy when a tear dropped down my face.
How can l ever leave the horse l lease?
He is my baby, even though hes 24
Im really the only one to care for him
the other horses were getting all the attention except him, because he cant do half the stuff the younger horses can do
so l gave him attention
i love him and hes like a big teddy bear

i wanna call him MINE but then people go:
hes yours
you bought him
did you name him
REALLY?!?!?

and l go well, not technically

is it all right to call him mine?
no ride commentos please!
no rude****

i am the only one to ride him (:
the owner ''loves'' him, but whatever
i signed a leasing contract
my parents dont wanna pay vet and farrier and board

the thing is, she doesnt know anything about horses.
he has arthritis in his leg, and l dont know if shes doing anything about it.
they tell me to canter him when its cold l told them NO! too cold
they even said me working with him made him stick up for himself and be more affectionate

sure that is ok to call him ''yours'' cause technically he is! you take care of him right? you ride him right? you love him right? if so just call him ''MY HORSE!''

if you care for him than he is yours

l think it is perfectly fine to call him yours. if you've grown that close to him, you can call him whatever you want.

You could tell them your his foster Mom.
That is very sweet. l have a soft spot for old horses too.

No, if you do not pay for him and do not make the decisions for him and do not hold the title to him, he is not yours.

l have the same dilemma. l lease a Welsh Cob but it is not really a lease, l just look after him & give him more care than anyone else does. l am getting my own in about April but l am scared that he will get neglected (he was really neglected before l found him) but l want my own so l am not restricted by the insurance on the place etc.

It is too hard to explain this to everyone so l just call him ''my Welsh'' or ''my horse'' etc. If someone asks if l ''own'' him, l tell them straight that l do not & it is more of a lease but that confuses non-horse people too. His name is Tubby & it is not hard to guess so they do not ask me if l named him or things like that.

Gotta cut this short. Hope that helps. (:

You can not say that he is techincally ''Yoursbecause he is technically NOT. BUT,you know in your heart that you love and care for him like he is yours. You could say that you lease him and love him to death, but until you sign the contract.he is not yours. l know how you feel though. I've been in the same situation. :) Good Luck With Him! He sounds like a sweety:) Merry CHRISTMAS!

Sorry no u really can not.

l am be really annoyed if l owned a horse & leased him out & the girl leasing him just started calling him hers!

Also people could become confused & think that u really ARE the owner. Maybe the horse gets hurt & they spend an afternoon trying to reach u when they should be the real owner.

Have u ever asked her/contacted her about his arthritis? Maybe she is taking care of it, or maybe there is not much she can do, he is 24.

Yeah u could call him yours. l call the horse l lease mine because l feel like he is mine. If l were u l would keep leasing him until he is to old to be ridden. Because then when he is to old to be ridden he will just be a GOOD old companion horse l have a few of those at my barn. when he becomes a companion horse then u can look for a horse of ur own. HOPE l HELPED.
p.s e-mail me if u need any morse help

l have a similar problem.
l have a horse l work with who had not been riden for 12 month prior to me & 1.5 years since l have had her.

so a year total. the people who house her say she is theirs. But there is an man that owns her & the papers.so really the man owns her niether of us do.

l pay for her grain, treats , l train & ride her daily, l clean her stall top to bottom daily, l pay for shaving for the stall. farrier. ( l love her) the people who house her & several other horses ..the others stand in crap up to their ankles & stay in the stall except on weekends here & there. When they get rode hard & put up wet. l felt so bad yesterday l mucked one of their stalls & found poop that had mold on it.

l want her just because l fell in love. & l can not bare the though of her going back into the condition they keep their other horses in.

l call her mine! she is mine in my heart & in hers. l am the one she runs to , l am the one she nickers for, l am the one she will lay down for. l am the one she will jump for , l am the one she will slow down for & make l am safe on her back, l am the one she hides behind when she gets scared. Everyone else she tries to bite , kick , stomp, buck, rear or run away with. But then reality hits. l do not own her.. bottom line.

l would definately call him mine. l used to work at a standardbred racehorse stable, & we had over 100 horses, but l had 4 that l took care of, & l called them mine. To teh owner of the stable, they were just another horse..he might pay attention to it, if it shows signs of being a good racer, or if it comes from a good bloodline. But for me, no matter how good or bad the horse was l loved it, cared for it, & would stay late after work to spend time with them all. l loved them like they were my kids or something. THey knew me, recognized me, & were only affectionate in that special way to me. l always thought of them as my own.
