If you've tried the cribbing collars and they do not work, all l can think is that you could get large round metal fences or electric wire on each fence. l know these would stop him but will cost $$$$.

l hope you find what you need. That is very frustrating.

Is he only cribbing in his stall or in the pasture too?

if your cribbing collar did not help it probably was not tight enough. My neighbor is app is a horrible cribber. She bought her a miracle cribbing collar, and it works great, but it has to be tight enough to be effective.

they also have a nasty tasting spray that you can spray on your fence, but l do not think this will solve the problem, just a quick fix for a short amount of time.

good luck. give the collar another try.

Have u tried getting him a jolly ball or something to keep him busy in his stall & out. l know that they make some that r like flavored. That may help relieve boredom. Another thing that may help is to try putting hot sauce where ever he is cribbing this really only works in the stall. Electric Fencing would help significantly the only thing with that is he may start cribbing on trees. And Making sure that ur cribbing collar is tight enough is something else u should check.

l agree with the answer that says u have to put the collar on tighter. You have to put it on so that the horse can NOT make that burping noise. l know it seems exceedingly tight, but they r designed so that when ur horse puts its head down to eat or drink, the collar loosens up. Try it.

EDIT: I've NEVER had a cribbing collar fit a horse right out of the package, I've always had to punch holes in it to make it fit properly.

Cribbing collars r not torture devices & not all cribbing is caused by dietary/digestive issues. When horses crib, it releases endorphines so it is addictive, & once they get addicted then will not stop doing it unless u physically prevent them from doing it.

There is a new brand of cribbing collar out there, http://horsetackreview.com/review-display/10179.html l do not know whether or not it is any good. l also hear of surgery that implants rings in the horse is gums. My horse cribs. He started it in reaction to the pain of arthritis. He cribs less now that l have his arthritis under control. We will be checking & treating him for ulcers in spring, l hope this will reduce it more. You might check this horse for pain, especially ulcers. A lot of X race horses have them.

Horses crib because of gastric distress or because they have developed this behavioral problem because of the horrible unnatural life forced on them by humans. This & other ''vices'' r common in track horses. Treat his stomach & gut with some probiotics. l like Fasttrack. l would give the gel in the syringe first (2 g per day for 5 days in a 10 g syringe). Then buy a couple of bags & feed him the daily dosage until they r gone. it has to be refrigerated. If it is behavioral in nature & he can not get over it, there is nothing u can do. If he is turned out all the time & his tummy is better, u will see the end result. Best advice is REMOVE THE CRIBBING COLLAR. It is cruel & wrong. It is not the horse is fault he has had the life he has had. Why continue to punish him by causing him pain & discomfort. The disgusting collar is probably so tight it hurts him to swallow. These collars can cause injury. Please do not do this to ur horse. l do not understand how anybody can use one of these horrible devices. Leave him alone. If he cribs, so what. If u stop using the torture devices, it is likely his behavior will improve with turn out & resolution of any stomach distress, but it will take time. Ignore the behavior & let him be as happy as he can be. Give him good food & lots of hay & let him be a horse. Show him some compassion & kindness. l have never understood why people get so bent about this behavior. At some point u have to understand what is going on & make the solution all about the horse, not about the humans. If the pasture fence is wood, string a small electric wire on the top & he will quickly avoid it. Cost would be minimal & it would really help ur horse. Hope u r able to help him in a humane & reasonable manner. good luck.
