does anyone know what a free loan is? l cant afford a horse and wanted to know if this is a good idea

l have a horse on free lease. The way my lease works is that the horse stays at my barn & l pay all of his bills & have complete use of him, but his original owner retains ownership. This can be great in certain situations, but make sure u have a good contract. For example, in ours, we have items like they can not sue us if he dies in our care, we r not obligated to pay extraoridinary medical expenses, & we have first right of refusal to buy him at a specified price if they ever want to sell him.

just like having care of a horse without actually owning it. you ride, you feed you pay for any bills. l think it is a good idea, as long as you know of the horse is medical history and how well of a ride he/she is.

Nothing is free.
You loan the horse you pay all the bills - and l mean all of them.
You just do not pay to actually loan the horse.
It is the same as owning the horse but less the original purchase price.
On the plus side it is usually the sort of loan where they do not interfere much and you can do pretty much what you like without someone looking over your shoulder constantly.
