l have heard of it and l think it means how the horse carries himself or how he stands and moves. idk. can somebody tell me what it means?

No it means how the horse is put together. There is a standard for each breed in how it should look, and conformation is how well each individual horse CONFORMS to this breed standard. It includes things such as the slope of the shoulder, the straightness of the legs, the length of the neck, etc.

no, it means how a horse is put together, if a Quarter Horse has all the characterics a Quarter horse should have, or an Appaloosa traits, basiclly the horse is judged on its body formation

Its how the horse is, in body stucture.
Ewe neck, Long back, sloping pasterns, post-legged, ect.
Conformation effects how the horse moves, so l can see how you got confused. For instance, if your horse toes out it will prolly interfere. (In this case, hitting the insides of his hooves together)

Kinda like in humans- for instance, some one is ''Pidgeon toed'' ?

conformation is way the horse is put together or build. There is different standards for different breeds but most the time u just go off of how 'correct' the horse looks in general if not judging specifically. l like to break it into secions :

head & neck- how is the neck set on, how does the head look? is the neck too thick? too thin?

shoulder- how does it tie in? is it straight or not?

legs- r they straight, & correct set on a good sized hoof? do they look weak?

back/hind end- does it look muscular, & even & not too long/short? does it look weak or does the horse appear to be standing up or downhill?

Finally the surface anatomy is assessed, which is what can be seen on the body surface. The way all of the structures balance & contribute to function r what we r looking for when assessing the conformation of an individual horse. So, we relate form to function. How the horse moves & carries himself will be determined, for the most part, by his conformation. However, it is possible to influence a horse is way of going through conditioning exercises, so that is also taken into consideration when determining whether a given horse will be suitable for a particular discipline.
